Located in the UK most of their range are made in Nottingham.  A small number of the Organics for Kids product range are also created in India.  The Indian factory was selected by the Fairtrade Foundation. The dyes used by organics for kids are  Oeko tex 100 standard certified which ensures that Organic for kids garments contain safe and non-toxic substances.

  • The coulours are water based and therefore non-toxic.

    • ]]>         <![CDATA[Recipe for Halloween Cookies]]> Tue, 25 Oct 2011 10:48:00 +0200 This is a quick and easy-to-do recipe for Halloween cookies that you can make together with your kids !]]> Preparation time : 30mins

    Cooking time : Varies according to your oven  (15 - 25 minutes)

    Ingredients for 6 to 8 Halloween cookies :

    • 100g/3½oz unsalted butter, softened at room temperature

    • 100g/3½oz caster sugar

    • 1 free-range egg, lightly beaten

    • 275g/10oz plain flour

    • 1 tsp vanilla extract

    To decorate :

    • 400g/14oz icing sugar

    • 3-4 tbsp water 

    • 2-3 drops of natural colouring eg. Urucum Powder, Matcha tea.

     

    Preparation :

    • Preheat oven at 190C
    • Line a baking tray with greaseproof paper.
    • Beat the butter and sugar together in a bowl until well mixed.
    • Beat in the egg and vanilla extract, adding it gradually, until it is well mixed in.
    • Stir in the flour until the mixture turns into dough.
    • Spread the dough out with a roller on a lightly floured surface to a thickness of about 1cm/½in.
    • Using Halloween-style biscuit cutters, cut biscuits out of the dough and carefully place on your baking tray.
    • Bake the biscuits for 8-10 minutes, or until pale golden-brown. Leave to harden for 5 minutes, then cool on a wire rack.

    Icing :

    • For the icing, sift the icing sugar into a large mixing bowl and stir in enough water to create a smooth mixture. Stir in the food colouring.
    • Carefully spread the icing onto the biscuits using a knife and wait patiently :) until the icing hardens.

Before being launched on the market, Selecta toy prototypes are tested by parents and children to see if they meet the required standards. The toys once created, undergo tests to ensure that they adhere to Selecta's  stringent quality criteria before being packaged and distributed.

    Selecta makes their toys from wood harnassed from German forests. Furthermore, the wood used is PEFC and FSC certified.   

    The paint and gloss used in the making of Selecta toys is not harmful to the environment or humans (specifically children). Furthermore, the colours conform to European norms established to guarantee safe toys.

    All Selecta toys are Tüv certified

    We have gone to some effort to provide clear and comprehensive information on the different brands on sale on our site. Their products were chosen because of their quality and their manufacturers commitment to the environment and their labour force. For example Lana Natural Wear's site and brochures descibe in detail their manufacturing process, certification and ethos. 

    It is sometimes hard to appreciate the true quality of a product without having the chance to touch it and see it up close. When we received the goods from Lana Naturalwear we were really able to see the superior quality of the textiles used. An Example being the Lana Naturalwear Striped Baby Romper.
