Cadeaux et jouets (Gifts and toys) is run by Laura Meighan, a French native.  As a mother of two young children Laura places a great deal of importance on the quality of products when shopping for her kids. Having spent a lot of time comparing prices and observing the quality of goods as a consumer, she discovered that many major brand products represent poor value for the consumer. She's also become aware of the dubious nature of manufacturing practices and alleged abuses of many big brand names.  Profit in a sense has become far more important than anything else.
While searching for appropriate suppliers for her site Laura also noticed that some widely known manufacturers provided only very vague information on the materials used for their goods. An example of this is the cuddly toys or play mat which specifies "all new materials". When contacted by Laura the after sales service could not give more specific details on what these materials actually were. Surely, if we pay premium prices we are entitled to have more transparency regarding the manufacturing of these products.
Many cases of worker exploitation have been highlighted in the press in recent years. By buying from companies who provide decent conditions for their workforce and transparency on the manufacturing process we can overtime persuade manufacturers to be more ethical and environmentally aware. While doing research for the creation of her online store Laura discovered many European and Asian companies that produce goods in an ethical and an ecological way. In setting up this site Laura aims to offer products from proven ethical and environmental aware brands and also play her part in promoting and encouraging conscientious behaviour amongst consumers.
